Welcome to Paysplit ("Paysplit", "we", "our", or "us"). This policy is written to match the current Paysplit app and Google Play data safety disclosures.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Paysplit collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Paysplit mobile app, paysplit.club, invite links, account deletion pages, and related services.

Paysplit is a shared expense, bill splitting, settlement tracking, and AI assistant product. We do not provide banking, lending, credit, insurance, crypto, gambling, or money custody services. We do not hold user funds or transfer money on behalf of users.

2. Information we collect

Account and profile information: phone number, display name, handle, user ID, avatar, profile details you choose to add, account state, subscription status, and device/session information needed to keep your account secure.

Friends and contacts: contact names and phone numbers when you choose to sync contacts or add friends, virtual friends, friend requests, blocks, nicknames, and relationship status.

Expense and group information: expenses, amounts, categories, split rules, balances, settlements, recurring expenses, table-mode sessions, groups, member lists, activity history, comments or notes you enter, and related timestamps.

Payment-related records: settlement method, UPI ID or QR details when provided, UTR/reference text, payment proof images, verification status, and Google Play subscription purchase records.

Media and files: profile photos, group icons, cover images, receipt photos, table receipt photos, settlement proof images, exported files, and scanned receipt output.

AI assistant data: prompts, chat messages, receipt images, parsed receipt data, voice recordings or audio snippets you submit for voice input, and AI-generated draft expense data.

App activity and diagnostics: screen views, feature interactions, in-app search actions, analytics events, crash logs, diagnostics, performance metrics, Firebase installation ID, FCM token, Advertising ID where available, Play Integrity/App Check signals, and device/app metadata.

Support and website data: email address and message content when you contact us, join a waitlist, submit a form, or request account/data deletion through the website.

3. How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts, sync expenses, calculate balances, manage groups and live tables, process settlements, send notifications, support subscriptions, provide AI-assisted expense features, detect abuse, debug issues, and improve app reliability.

We use analytics, crash logs, and performance data to understand app health, find broken flows, improve features, and make release decisions. We do not use this information to sell ads.

We may use contact data only for friend discovery, contact matching, invite flows, and duplicate/virtual friend resolution. Contact syncing is user initiated.

4. AI processing

Paysplit's AI features can process text prompts, receipt images, parsed receipt fields, and voice input to draft expenses, explain balances, suggest actions, and help you use the app.

AI processing may be performed through Google Cloud, Firebase, Vertex AI, Gemini, or related Google services. Do not submit sensitive information that is not needed for the expense or support request.

AI-created drafts are review-first. You remain responsible for checking amounts, participants, split rules, and settlement decisions before creating or confirming an expense.

5. Permissions

Contacts permission is used when you choose to find friends from your phonebook.

Camera and photos are used for QR scanning, profile or group images, receipt scanning, and payment proof attachment.

Microphone access is used only when you choose to use voice input.

Notification permission is used for account, friend, settlement, recurring expense, table mode, and smart nudge notifications.

Biometric permission may be used for local device security where enabled.

6. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information. We do not share user data with advertising networks or data brokers.

We use service providers to operate Paysplit, including Google Cloud, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Storage, Cloud Functions, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, App Check, Play Integrity, Google Play Billing, and Google AI services.

These providers process data to provide hosting, authentication, storage, notifications, analytics, crash reporting, billing, security, and AI functionality for Paysplit.

We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect users, Paysplit, and the public.

7. Security

User data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. We rely on Google Cloud and Firebase security controls for server-side storage and access controls.

The mobile app also uses local storage protections for app data where supported. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect user data.

8. Retention and deletion

We keep account, expense, group, settlement, subscription, and activity data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, maintain shared financial history, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and prevent abuse.

When you delete your account, Paysplit starts a 30-day restore window. During this period, the account can be restored from the same user identity where supported.

After the restore window, account data scheduled for deletion is removed or anonymized where practical. Shared expense and settlement history involving other users may remain visible to those users with a deleted-account placeholder so their records stay understandable and balances/history are not corrupted.

Deleted accounts are hidden from public search, friend discovery, phone lookup, and invite discovery. Deleted-user placeholders are not treated as virtual friends and do not create a new identity.

9. Your choices

You can choose whether to grant contacts, camera, microphone, and notification permissions. Some features will not work without the relevant permission.

You can edit your profile information in the app, manage friendships and blocks, sign out, and request account deletion.

You can contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of your data, subject to verification, legal requirements, and shared-record limitations.

10. Children

Paysplit is not directed to children under 13. Because the app handles shared money records and settlements, it is intended for users who can responsibly manage shared expenses.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. We will update the Last Updated date and may provide additional notice for material changes.
